The week of October 7th, Moulton Elementary School sent our fourth graders to attend the Lavaca County Ag Day at the Big Red Barn in Seguin, Texas. While there, students rotated through numerous stations including farm animals, poultry, horses, dairy cows, and pecans. The Nutrition Station was a favorite as they participated in a four food group race, and they were the only school to receive a 100 percent accuracy! The winter garden involved a scavenger hunt where the kids searched for various plants and herbs. The winter garden grows crops that would have been grown in a garden one hundred years ago which included things like leafy lettuce, herbs, broccoli, and even cotton. The GVEC station on electricity was fun too, and our students very competently answered most questions correctly. Students particularly enjoyed the wildlife presentation about scavengers and nocturnal animals. Thank you to the participants and sponsors for a great trip!
